The musical is under the direction of Cliff Keen Jr, whose directing talents have been seen at the Leeds Arts Council with "Sound of Music", "Grease", "Bonechiller", "Over the River and Through the Woods" over the last 3 years and at the ACTA theatre in Trussville with "The Little Princess". Keen brings Disney's classic tale to life with a talented ensemble cast. The beautiful costumes and elaborate set bring to life this wonderful tale as old as time. The fairy tale centers on the young Belle (Susan Cook), whose father Maurice (Mike Bridges) is taken prisoner when he stumbles upon an enchanted castle. While avoiding her unwanted suitor Gaston (Andrew Wolford) and looking for Maurice, Belle also enters the castle which the Beast (Clay Boyce) calls home. To save her father, Belle exchanges her freedom for his. Held against her will, she is nevertheless drawn into the magic of a new world with mysterious secrets. Andrew Wolford plays the narcissistic Gaston and Geoff White portrays his sidekick Lefou. Among Gaston's many admirers are silly girls Ally Forehand, Jenna Bellamy, and Ashley Dowda. Enchanted castle inhabitants include Mrs. Potts, a bubbly teapot (Hannah Wilkerson), and her son Chip, a tea cup (Nathan Denard); Lumiere, candelabra, (Sam Torres); Cogsworth, a clock, (Kenny Morris); Babette, a feather duster (Jill Casey); The Wardrobe (Sherri Forehand); Barry Perkins is Monsieur D'Arque, an asylum owner, who conspires with Gaston. Rounding out this wonderful cast is Ed Potts, Victoria Boyce, Casey Young (Understudy Chip), Carol Rubens, Kyle Henderson, Steven Fleck(Understudy Lumiere), Linda Park (Understudy Wardrobe), Anthony Aldridge, Rietta Bolus, Rachel Cartwright, Zoe Champion, Dave Crabb, Dallas Fields, Anna and Rebecca Dennis, Noelle Gunn, Angie McGowan, Shari Olm, Sky Park, Debbie Rakes, Kourtney Sipin, Christy Vest, and Anna Grace White. Beauty and the Beast, which is based on the Disney movie of the same name, opened on Broadway in 1994. The show features music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, and book by Linda Woolverton. The musical is produced with permission from Music Theatre International.
